Incident Details:
On October 17, 2024, at approximately 05:09 PM, officers arrested a suspect at a retail store on Highway 95 North following a theft in progress. Store staff recognized the individual from prior shoplifting incidents. During one incident on September 10, 2024, the suspect was observed placing two rotisserie chickens together but scanning only one at the self-checkout, leaving the second chicken unpaid.
Upon arrival, officers reviewed security footage showing similar patterns in past incidents from August 14 to October 13, 2024, where the suspect scanned only part of the items and left without paying for the rest. The individual became argumentative when contacted, requiring officers to handcuff her to ensure cooperation.
While waiting at the patrol vehicle, the suspect began hyperventilating and complained of difficulty breathing. Officers adjusted her handcuffs to the front, and she declined further medical assistance. She was subsequently transported to the Lake Havasu City jail, booked, cited, and held for court. The total value of the unpaid items was $5.97, and the individual was indefinitely trespassed from the store.
