Incident Details:

On October 19, 2024, at approximately 10:02 PM, officers responded to a single-vehicle accident on the 1400 block of McCulloch Boulevard North. The driver swerved to avoid pedestrians at a crosswalk, lost control of the vehicle, and struck a wooden awning pillar at the English Village, causing significant damage.

Upon contact, officers observed the driver exhibiting signs of intoxication, including bloodshot and watery eyes, slurred speech, and difficulty maintaining balance. Field sobriety tests were conducted, revealing six out of six impairment indicators in the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test. The driver performed poorly on the walk-and-turn and one-leg stand tests, further indicating impairment.

A breath test was administered at the Lake Havasu City jail, yielding BAC results of 0.200 and 0.196. The driver was arrested and charged with multiple DUI violations and criminal damage for the property destruction caused by the crash.

The vehicle was towed from the scene, and photographs of the scene and damages were uploaded to the department’s evidence system. The suspect was booked into the Lake Havasu City jail and held for court.
