Suspect Arrested for Shoplifting on Highway 95 North

On September 19, 2024, at approximately 12:30 PM, officers arrested a suspect for shoplifting at a retail store on Highway 95 North. The suspect was observed filling her purse with items from the store shelves without scanning them at the checkout. After completing the self-checkout process, the suspect exited the store with unpaid items concealed in her purse and cart.

Officers stopped the suspect before she exited the building and asked to see her receipt. When questioned, the suspect admitted she had placed unpaid items in her purse and stated, “I was naughty.” She further explained that she had not intended to pay for all the items in her cart due to financial difficulties.

During a search of the purse, it was found to be completely empty aside from the concealed items. The suspect acknowledged that she entered the store with an empty purse with the intent of filling it. A review of two separate receipts confirmed unpaid items totaling $146.34.

The suspect completed a written statement, was issued a trespass order banning her from the store, and refunded for any legitimately paid items. She was transported to the Lake Havasu City Police Department for booking, citation, and court processing.
