The investigation revealed that the suspect had been involved in a series of thefts between August 14, 2024, and October 13, 2024. During each visit, the suspect would conceal items by grouping them together and scanning only one barcode at self-checkout, leaving without paying for the additional items.
The latest incident involved the theft of several high-value items, including deli meats and a tri-tip roast, totaling $4,810. Surveillance footage confirmed the pattern of behavior, with the suspect repeatedly scanning only one of two identical items. The suspect was apprehended at the store and became argumentative during the arrest but complied after being handcuffed.
The business provided video evidence, receipts, and photographs, which were collected and entered into the case file. Officers issued a permanent trespass notice, barring the suspect from returning to the store. The case was cleared by arrest.
