On October 10, 2024, at approximately 04:34 PM, officers arrested a suspect on Mesquite Avenue following a theft incident reported at a business on McCulloch Boulevard North. The incident, which took place on September 14, 2024, involved the suspect removing a hat and shoes valued at approximately $54 from a display shelf and exiting the store without attempting to pay for the items.
The store manager reported that the suspect, who had been banned from the store three years earlier, had returned multiple times over the last few days. When confronted, the suspect became aggressive, yelling and insulting the manager.
Officers identified the suspect based on video evidence and made contact on Mesquite Avenue. During questioning, the suspect expressed uncertainty about the theft but stated that drug use might have influenced his actions. The stolen items were not recovered, and the case was marked as cleared by arrest.
